ECHA officially publishes 15th batch SVHC Candidate List

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has added one new Substance (Benzo[def]chrysene) out of the four recommended substance to be included in the Candidate List of Very High Concern (SVHCs) on 20, June 2016. (±)-1,7,7-trimethyl-3-[(4-methylphenyl) methylene] bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2-one (4-methylbenzylidene camphor) , 1,7,7-trimethyl-3-(phenyl methylene) bicyclo [2.2.1]heptan-2-one (3-benzylidene camphor) and Dicyclohexyl phthalate (DCHP) have not been added to the Candidate List. With the newly updating, the Candidate List now contains a total of 169 substances.

1.BaP ≤1 mg/kg in extender oils and tyres ;

2.BaP ≤1 mg/kg in rubber or plastic will prolonged or short-term repetitive contact with skin or the oral cavity;

3.BaP ≤0.5 mg/kg in Toys, including activity toys, and childcare articles.

Legal Obligations of Companies

Producers and exporters of articles containing any of the SVHC candidates shall notify ECHA if both of the following conditions apply:

i. the substance is present in those articles in quantities totaling over on tonne per producer or exporter per year, and

ii. the substance is present in those articles above a concentration of 0.1% weight by weight.
